SCC Accreditation
EL-Safe Inc. is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to ISO/IEC 17020 for the field evaluation and special inspection of electrical equipment within its accredited scope.
Scope of Accreditation
EL-Safe Inc. is accredited to perform field evaluations/special inspections and apply approval labels to electrical equipment and systems in accordance with CSA SPE-1000, subject to the exclusions identified in our SCC Scope of Accreditation.
Examples of equipment within our general scope include:
- Industrial Control Panels
- Industrial Machinery
- Switchboards
- Switchgear
- Panelboards
- Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
- Transformers
- Generators
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS
- EV Charging Equipment
- Luminaires
- Custom-Built Equipment
- Modified Equipment
- Imported Equipment
Equipment eligibility is determined in accordance with CSA SPE-1000, EL-Safe Inc.’s SCC-accredited scope, and applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
Exclusions
In accordance with our SCC Scope of Accreditation, the following are excluded:
- Wire and cable products
- Wiring devices
- Equipment for use in hazardous locations
- Medical electrical equipment and systems
- Components requiring further evaluation as part of a complete assembly, such as switches, relays, and timers
- Equipment connected to line voltage in excess of 46 kV
- Manlifts, elevators, climb assists, and similar systems, except their associated control panels
- Equipment not permitted to be field evaluated as directed by an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
Field evaluation/special inspection applies only to equipment that is suitable for connection to an electrical supply in accordance with applicable Canadian Electrical Code requirements.
EL-Safe Field Evaluation Label
The EL-Safe Field Evaluation Label identifies electrical equipment that has been evaluated by EL-Safe Inc. and found to conform with the applicable requirements of CSA SPE-1000, within EL-Safe Inc.’s SCC-accredited scope.
The label is applied only after the field evaluation has been completed, applicable non-conformities have been satisfactorily resolved, and conformity has been determined in accordance with EL-Safe Inc.’s inspection procedures.
A field evaluation is an inspection activity and does not constitute product certification.
